Mum in desperate appeal to find daughter Katelan Coates after ‘five nights sleeping God knows where’

A mum has launched a desperate appeal to find her missing daughter who hasn’t been sighted for five days.

LancsLive reported yesterday that Katelan Coates hadn’t been seen since Friday last week (May 26) after travelling from Todmorden in West Yorkshire to Burnley. She was last seen leaving the Lancashire town’s bus station.

As a result, a joint police appeal from Lancashire and West Yorkshire constabularies was launched in an appeal to find her.

Katelan, 14, was seen arriving at Burnley bus station at 6.53pm on the Friday and has not been seen since. It is believed she may still be in the Burnley area.

She is described as white female, around 5ft5 in height with long brown hair, last seen wearing an orange vest top, black leggings and a black coat.

Her mum has now issued a fresh appeal to find Katelan, believing she could have travelled to one of Blackburn, Preston, Manchester, Blackpool, and Stockport. She also issued a direct appeal to her daughter, saying “can at least let us know you’re okay”.

In an appeal this morning, mum Tina wrote: “Please, please help find Katelan. Missing since Friday, that’s five nights sleeping god knows where? She might go in a McDonald’s, hang out on a park or city centre?

In a follow up, Tina wrote: “This post is just for Katelan Coates. You know how much you’re loved. You know we will do anything/everything to help you. If that means we move or change school to give you a fresh start we will.

“If you can at least let us know you’re okay. Our door is always open, no questions or judgement. Love you always, mum and dad.”

On Tuesday, West Yorkshire Police said: “Officers and Katelan’s family are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare and want to make sure she is OK. Anyone who believes they may have seen Katelan, may know of her current whereabouts or has information on where she travelled to after leaving Burnley bus station is asked to contact police without delay.”

Information can be given to police via the 101LiveChat function on the website or by calling 101 quoting West Yorkshire Police reference 1971 of May 26.
