GREENWICH, CT — As part of his trip to Connecticut on Friday, President Joe Biden will visit Greenwich.

Biden is first scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the “National Safer Communities Summit,” which is being hosted by U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and several state and national gun safety activists at the University of Hartford. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Biden will then head to Greenwich to appear at a $25,000-a-head fundraiser for his reelection campaign, according to Hearst CT.

The event will be held at a private home near Lake Avenue. Gov. Ned Lamont, a Greenwich resident, is expected to attend, Hearst CT reported.

As a result of the president’s visit, the Greenwich Police Department is advising residents that there will be road closures and a heightened police presence throughout town.

It’s unclear what time any road closures will take effect, or when exactly Biden will be in town.

“The Greenwich Police Department recognizes that sudden and unexpected road closures can cause inconvenience and delay travel,” said Deputy Police Chief Mark Zuccerella. “The department is working with partner law enforcement agencies to reduce the impact that this may have on our community.”
