These are the shocking moments a group of reckless teenagers clambered up a pier, dangled off the structure “like monkeys” and launched themselves into the water.

Richard Murrell and Luke Jackson, who were fishing near a groyne, spotted the youths climbing Brighton Palace Pier in the East Sussex city.

Mr Murrell, 52, said: “They were climbing under the pier and hanging around like monkeys.

“The lifeguards were going over to them in their boat and trying to get them down but they still jumped off.”

The bricklayer took and shared photos of the group to highlight the dangers of the seaside as temperatures soar to 30C across the UK.

This is despite the deaths of two children who came into difficulty off the coast of Bournemouth, Dorset, just last month.

But nevertheless, the barefoot children in Brighton dangled off the structural support and jumped into the shallow water below.
