The Dore Grill in Sheffield reopens after shock closure with £350,000 makeover

Popular Sheffield pub and restaurant The Dore Grill has reopened its doors today, following a shock closure last year.

Customers were left “devastated” when the restaurant, in Church Lane, closed after 36 years in business. Owners said the rising cost of living crisis had a detrimental affect on the business, leaving the venue with “no chance” to keep running. The news came as a shock as the eatery had been inundated with five star reviews over the years.

However, after undergoing a huge makeover which cost over £350,000, the restaurant has reopened its doors this Bank Holiday Monday (May 29). Wake Smith Solicitors confirmed Sam Bell, managing director of Bank House Hathersage, in Hope Valley, has taken over the site.

The refurbished site will be a modern bar and restaurant, and also have an artisan bakery and coffee shop. It will offer Italian-influenced cuisine with vegetarian friendly and gluten free options for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner using fresh, locally sourced seasonal produce accompanied by a selection of wines, spirits, beers and cocktails.

Sam Bell said: “The Dore will be a quality all day offering with an Italian-influenced menu of steaks, pizza, pasta and salads. The restaurant is in an ideal location in Dore and will include an on-site coffee shop and bakery, open from 8am every day. Through the substantial refurbishment we are looking at a nod to history using natural finishes and a green and gold colour palette like the original Dore Grill.

“We are also looking at employing 30 new staff.” Customers have reportedly already rushed to book in – leaving the venue booked up until July. The venue have now stopped bookings for the rest of the week.
