Gourmet sandwiches can be a bit on the pricey side but one shop is offering up something so moreish we reckon it’s well worth forking out a bit more if you fancy a treat.

This sandwich with a difference certainly trumps your typical meal deal offering, with your obligatory fridge-cold sandwich, large bag of crisps and a bottle of water or fizzy drink. A typical meal deal can set you back around £3 for the lot so is it worth sometimes splurging on a next level gourmet sarnie?.

While Fat Pat’s might offer up the best sub in town, it might leave more of a dent in your bank balance at £14 for a Philly Cheesesteak with a drink (and £16 with some chips too), though it could stretch to feeding two, the Manchester Evening News reports.

That’s a birthday sandwich. Or getting a promotion at work sandwich. Or perhaps a small scratch card win sandwich.

Rack, in Stockport, has been knocking out upscaled (but only slightly) daily sandwiches from a mobile van since 2018, and then from its first actual sandwich shop since 2021, on Lawrence Street, just near the famous Plaza theatre.

And while it’s not coming in at three quid, for what’s coming out of the door, it’s a bargain, and hardly more than your average bill at either Pret A Manger or Subway. Plus you’re supporting a growing indie business.
