Dad of Arizona Coyotes star says his Twitter was hacked after posts slamming NHL team

The father of Arizona Coyotes star Clayton Keller has said that his Twitter account was hacked following a series of tweets that were posted.
Wednesday saw the NHL team release a statement in response to a vote in the city of Tempe over a new arena deal. The statement confirmed that ballot voters had rejected the measures that would have allowed the Coyotes to build a new arena in the city.
The Coyotes currently play at the Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona. The NHL team had put forward proposals to build a new arena, but that has now been rejected.
Coyotes president and CEO Xavier A. Gutierrez issued a statement on the results from the vote. “We are very disappointed Tempe voters did not approve Propositions 301, 302, and 303,” the statement read. “As Tempe Mayor Corey Woods said, it was the best sports deal in Arizona history. The Coyotes wish to thank everyone who supported our efforts and voted yes
“So many community leaders stepped up and became our advocates and for that we are truly grateful. We also wish to thank the countless volunteers who worked so hard to try and make the Tempe Entertainment District a reality and the Tempe City Council for their support as well.
“While we wanted a different outcome, we remain grateful to all those who volunteered their time and talent. What is next for the franchise will be evaluated by our owners and the National Hockey League over the coming weeks.”
The statement was posted on the Coyotes Twitter account, and it was in the replies where some tweets, which have since been deleted, emerged from Bryan Keller’s account.
The tweets heavily criticised the Coyotes organization, while another made a claim about Bryan Keller’s son, Clayton, and his future in Arizona. However, in a statement sent to the NHL Network , the Coyotes forward’s father has made it clear that he did not post the tweets and says his account was hacked.
“Wednesday morning, while out of town on business, I was informed by several friends a couple of Twitter messages were apparently sent from my personal account regarding the vote on the proposed arena in Tempe and my son, Clayton Keller’s future in AZ,” Keller told NHL Network .
“I am writing to inform anyone who read those messages that my Twitter account was hacked and the messages were sent out by the hacker. I want to make it clear that I did not authorize these messages and they do not reflect my personal views or opinions.
“This matter has been reported and my account is now secure. Everyone who knows me knows my opinions are all mine and I own them! These were not my comments or views on the matter. I want to apologize for any confusion this caused anyone.”
